Delegation from Myanmar visited Rosatom enterprises

In the period from 13 to 19 June, representatives of the Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar, as well as such companies as Innovative Growth Power, Primus Advanced Technologies Ltd., Z&A Medical Systems and Z&A Power Systems visited Russia. The delegation was headed by the Union Minister of Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar, U Thaung Han

For representatives of Z&A Medical Systems, a technical tour was organized at the multi-purpose processing center of Akcenter LLC in Kolpino, which is part of the Rusatom Healthcare JSC division. During the visit, the Myanmar side got acquainted with the technical solutions of Rosatom State Corporation in the field of radiation processing and sterilization. They also visited the facility based on an electron accelerator, wh ere the process of sterilization of medical devices, pharmaceutical and food products, as well as polymer products, was demonstrated. In continuation of the visit on the sidelines of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, Z&A Medical Systems, and Rusatom Healthcare JSC signed a memorandum of understanding, under which the parties agreed to develop cooperation in the implementation of joint projects to create multifunctional centers for processing products with ionizing radiation in Myanmar, as well as in the implementation of joint projects on cooperation in the field of application of non-energy nuclear technologies in healthcare and the development of nuclear medicine in Myanmar.

The delegation also visited the companies JSC AEM Technologies and CKBM (included in the machine-building division of Rosatom - Atomenergomash) on a technical visit on the construction of nuclear power plants and projects in the field of hydropower. During a tour to the production site of CKBM, the guests could see how parts of the main circulation pump unit, the “heart” of the reactor plant, are manufactured on modern machines. The guests also got acquainted with the technological capabilities of the Izhora production site of JSC AEM Technologies for the manufacture of key equipment for nuclear power plants. During the visit, the specialists visited the assembly and welding production, wh ere they saw vessel equipment for nuclear power plants in India, China, and Turkey at various stages of manufacture.

“Atomenergomash has extensive experience in working with foreign partners. Among our partners, there are countries that are building nuclear power plants for the first time. We help such partners to better understand the nuances of nuclear energy, make sure of the reliability of our production processes and the effectiveness of quality control methods,” said Igor Kotov, General Director of JSC AEM Technologies.

The representatives of Myanmar companies Primus Advanced Technologies Ltd. and Z&A visited the Kochubeevskaya Wind Farm in the Stavropol Krai. Consisting of 84 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.5 MW each, Kochubeevskaya Wind Farm has an installed capacity of 210 MW. The delegation was taken to the control room of the wind farm to demonstrate the power plant management software developed in Russia. The colleagues also visited one of Rosatom’s wind turbines to learn more about their design and equipment installed. Earlier, the two companies and Rosatom had signed memoranda on wind power project feasibility studies at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“Myanmar is already discussing the projects powered with Russian nuclear technology. And today, Rosatom is ready to launch wind power projects in the region. We very much appreciate the cooperation with friendly nations and are committed to sharing our knowledge and expertise in wind energy,” NovaWind CEO Grigoriy Nazarov said.

The active program of the visit made it possible to familiarize Myanmar colleagues with Rosatom's competencies in a variety of areas, from medicine to wind energy, in a very short time. This visit was another step towards strengthening cooperation between Russia and Myanmar.
