Today, at the Russian Investment Forum held in Sochi, the Government of Rostov Oblast and JSC "VetroSGC", a division of Rosatom responsible for the implementation of programs in the new energy industry, have signed an Agreement on investment projects for the construction of 100+ MW wind farms and the establishment of a factory for wind turbine components assembly.
The Document was signed by the Governor of the Rostov Oblast Mr. Vasilii Golubev and Director General of JSC "NovaWind" Mr. Aleksandr Korchagin. The preliminary amount of investments under the projects is estimated to be 15 billion rubles.
The Government of Rostov Oblast will, within the limits of its powers provided for by law, cooperate with JSC "NovaWind" on the preparation and implementation of projects, including connection to the utility network, as well as on the selection of sites needed to implement projects and those that meet the criteria for the location of wind farms.
"Today all the best technologies of State Corporation Rosatom in the field of power engineering are concentrated in the youngest city of Rostov Oblast ─ Volgodonsk, at "Atommash".Our wind energy strategy is not just to acquire competencies in the construction and operation of wind farms, but also to create a product that will allow us to enter a new international market for multimegawatt wind turbines (WT). Given our position as leaders of Russian power engineering industry, we have all necessary resources for the implementation of the largest scale local-content program for wind turbine manufacturing in the country. Over 300 new jobs will be created in the high-tech engineering sector of the region in the production facilities for assembly of wind turbine components and units in Volgodonsk. Launch is scheduled for 2018", said Alexandr Korchagin.
Manufacturing of the hub, nacelle, generator and cooling system for Lagerwey wind turbines will be arranged in Volgodonsk. By 2020 the local content in manufacturing will be approximately 80%. The production capacity is 100 turbines per year. In addition, the Agreement with the Government of Rostov Oblast will allow to consider the possibility to build wind farms in the region of the main production facilities within the short term, that will simplify the logistics of the program at the initial stage of operation technologies mastering.
