NovaWind and Kyrgyzstan Energy Ministry Signed Memorandum of Cooperation

NovaWind (Rosatom’s wind power division) and the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the delivery of wind power projects.

The parties intend to consider and study the possibilities of cooperation in building and operating wind power plants in the Kyrgyz Republic with the goal of increasing and improving efficiency, reliability and security of power supply in the country.

“This cooperation agreement opens up new prospects for the delivery of wind power projects. We continue, despite external constraints, to strengthen our cooperation with friendly nations and make new contracts. We have extensive expertise in the construction and operation of wind farms. Seven wind power plants we have built are generating electricity in three regions of Southern Russia. Wind farms in the Kyrgyz Republic will both improve the quality and reliability of power supply in the region and contribute to increasing the share of ‘green’ energy. I hope our cooperation will be effective,” NovaWind CEO Grigoriy Nazarov pointed out.

“Our country boasts great potential in power generation. I am sure that wind power projects will diversify our national energy mix and strengthen our national energy security, as well as increase tax revenues and create new jobs. I am convinced our cooperation gives us a chance to fully deliver on the natural potential of our country for the benefit of the Republic and its people,” Kyrgyzstan Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev commented on the event.
